Introduction to Market Studies (1/4)

Market Studies — Basics

Market Studies is Signal Sigma’s charting workspace. It’s built to visualize and explore time series — not just price charts.

Create a study

  • Open the menu → Add new

  • Name the study

  • Skip backtest import if you’re starting from scratch (you can import backtests later, in separate tabs of the study)

Add series

  • On first create, use Add series

  • Default example: Apple adjusted close (select color, scale, series type, hit apply)

  • Each series appears as a bubble you can toggle on/off or edit

Add other data on the same ticker

  • Add series → Market data

  • Example: medium-term GEX (gamma exposure) on Apple

  • For metrics that go positive and negative, use you can use a histogram

  • Plot on the bottom / upper panel if you want it clearly separate from price

Add another ticker or series for comparison

  • Search for the ticker using the search bar (e.g. MSFT) → Add

  • Overlay its close on the same scale as Apple

  • Go to Configure chart and switch the scale to percentage

Chart settings worth knowing

  • Percentage scale — best for comparing percentage return of series

  • Logarithmic scale — useful for long historical price data

  • Stack series — sum series on the same scale, when stacking actually makes sense for your data type

  • Zoom / set exact period — e.g. last 1,000 days, exact start and end date on a chart

  • Lock time window — lock the visible interval, chart becomes static

  • Time shift on any series — shift forward/back to test whether one series leads another

Export to CSV

  • Actions → Export selected series and date range to CSV

  • Viewing on the platform is free; download has a research-lane cost and is only available on PRO plans
