September 20 / The Signal-Trace Backtest

Feature Updates

Quick Launch

Our platform now features a Quick Launch button, accessible on the last page of any backtest. This allows you to repeatedly run backtests without leaving the launch interface. Simply assign a unique name to your backtest, click Quick Launch, and it starts running in the background.

By opening another tab, you can manage several backtests simultaneously, tweaking settings like study types to find the perfect metrics and signals. Short tests (3-6 months) are recommended to quickly identify effective secondary studies, such as standard deviation bands, with results displayed in our new default view colors which make setting up a Market Study much faster.

Run Every Day

Found a backtest worth repeating? Use the Run Every Day button to schedule it to execute automatically after each market close. When activated, the button turns orange and an orange dot will appear in the menu if a signal is generated on the last trading day.

Signal Trace: Simplified Signal Generation

Signal Trace is new backtest type designed for straightforward signal generation. It’s sole purpose is to display vertical bars on charts based on specific criteria, such as:

  • A ticker’s presence in the stock screener (e.g., your target ticker meeting defined constraints);

  • The number of stocks meeting screener criteria (ideal for breadth metrics, e.g., more than 900 stocks meet the constraints);

  • Advanced filtering options, including confirmation periods (e.g., requiring two prior signals), gap bridging for signal clusters, or selecting specific signals (e.g., first or last in a cluster).

Portfolio Sync and Email Alerts

You can now set up email alerts for stocks in your portfolio that meet specific screener criteria. By enabling dynamic portfolio selection in Signal Trace, each stock is evaluated individually, triggering personalized email alerts when screener conditions are met.

What’s Next?

Our team is working on:

  • Streamlining market studies with importable tabs + cleaning up the menu with a batch delete option;

  • Combining signals and measurements for deeper insights in the same Market Study;

  • Developing strategy backtesting;

We’re also committed to creating and sharing useful signals so that you can easily apply our pre-built solutions to your own portfolio and investing.
