This page displays up to date information on the main Sector ETFs. Equities are grouped into 12 industry sectors according to their respective business activity. While classification can get more specific, it's not necessary for our purposes. Instead, by analyzing these broad Sector ETFs, we can gain a thorough understanding about how certain market participants are doing together as a group. Alphabet (Google), Apple and Microsoft are part of XLK "Technology Select" ETF for example. If we would like to see how they compare against airlines, we could simply compare XLK against XTN (Transportation ETF).

That is where the table that comprises the upper part of the page comes in handy! You can sort the ETFs by clicking on the table headers of each column. It is also possible to click on the name of the ETF to go to the technical analysis page.

Below the table, on the left, we compare each sector by it's Sigma (normalized) deviation from each daily moving average (20, 50, 200). Moving averages act like "gravity" so the more deviation you get, the more extreme overbought or oversold that instrument is. Columns are "stacked" on the graphs in order to provide easier comparison.

Below the table, on the right, we compare the relative and absolute Z-Scores of each sector. Z-Score is used to measure the standard deviation from the median regression line. A score of 0 represents a price that is exactly on the median line, while deviations above 1 or below -1 are significant, and don't happen very often. The relative Z-Score represents the same concept, but with the price series divided against the SPY ETF (useful for understanding recent excess returns against the market). A visual example of Z-Scores of 1 and -1 can be seen on any instrument’s Technical Analysis Chart, represented by the Upper and Lower bounds of the trading channel.

Below the two graphs, you'll find a large chart useful for tracking the recent performance of each instrument (200 days of returns, rebased at $100). You can also use the chart menu to overlay Signal Sigma Strategies, and see how they compare.
